A joint venture of Ecosystem Technologies International, Inc. and JCA 1221 Holdings, Inc. clinched the P240-million deal to construct wastewater treatment facility in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan. Puerto Princesa City Mayor Lucilo Bayron signed a contract with Ecosystem Technologies president Robert So and JCA 1221 Holdings president Jehremiah Asis for building the septage, sewerage and sanitation project with learning center in the city, the local government said in a statement. The facility will be erected at the City Baywalk in Barangay Matahimik where current outfalls directly discharge untreated sewage into the water, polluting the bay. Its sewerage component has a capacity of 2,000 cubic meters a day while the septage component, estimated at 70 cubic meters per day. The treatment plant will be equipped with Ecosystem Technologies’ Sequence Bio Reactor (SBR), which the Department of Science and Technology recently acknowledged as viable solutions for water security and sanitation. SBR, as explained by Ecosystem Technologies in its website, is an advanced hybrid sequencing batch process that utilizes using sophisticated biotechnology and molecular tools for microbial applications for used water treatment wherein specific selected and effective bacteria species are propagated in conditions simulating natural settings inside the reactor.
