12 May Ecosystem Founder Robert Y. So Delivers Commencement Address at WMSU’s 73rd Commencement Exercises
ZAMBOANGA CITY — Ecosystem Founder, President, and CEO Robert Y. So delivered the Commencement Address for the Western Mindanao State University’s 73rd Commencement Exercises last April 4, 2018 with the theme “Crossing Borders, Weaving Future; Facing the Challenges of Generation Z and Beyond.”
Facing over 1,500 graduates, Mr. So delivered an address with an intention to motivate and challenge the incoming professionals, which included the graduates from the College of Nursing as well as the College of Engineering among others. Both are colleges dear to Mr. So, as he shared that he is married to a nurse, while himself is a graduate of Mechanical Engineering.
He shared stories from the time of his own graduation, to when he started his different endeavors. The audience responded warmly to the stories of the accomplishments of his children. Mr. So encouraged the graduates to never give up, mentioning
“We will meet someday, over the course of our professions, or our advocacies. I wish then we will have the opportunity to talk to each other, maybe then you will be able to tell me something. But for now… I say to all of you: Be courageous to dream and dream big. Follow up on that dream with tenacity. Do not let go of it even when it gets difficult. Let us look at failure differently now. Failure is a part of learning. It just means that you need to put more work into trying harder. Let failure be a teacher, giving you lessons on your path to success.”
Mr. So earlier delivered a talk at WMSU last February 21, 2018; to encourage senior high school students to major in Environmental Engineering, a degree program offered by Western Mindanao State University.
